About the Author

Pattie Logan is passionate about discovering places that inspire magical, emotional, and spiritual connections to nature. She grew up primarily in Arizona and Colorado, meandering through desert washes and hiking up mountainsides, falling in love with the natural world.

Pattie is an Emmy Award–winning TV producer and writer whose work features interesting humans, inspiring landscapes, and lots of animals, especially horses. She has written films that are shown in the visitor centers of Rocky Mountain National Park and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

As a reporter for CNN and TBS, Pattie covered environmental issues and solutions. Two of her favorite projects are documentaries she wrote and produced for KUSA-TV in Denver — Promises in the Mist, about the wondrous mountain gorillas of Rwanda; and The Colorado: Lifeblood of the West, which looks at how the Colorado River supports life in the Southwest.

Pattie has an M.A. in American Studies from the University of New Mexico, where she studied the complex relationship between people and nature.
